I think that what James Allen is trying to say is that however you imagine the situation, which is what the outcome will be. For example, if you are always pessimist, at the end, everything will go wrong, and no one will enjoy it. On the other hand if you are always an optimist, you will find that the outcomes will always come out like you imagined them to be, happy and joyous. It all depends on how you deal with things.

What I think James Allen is trying to say is that your life will be full of great things if you think and do positive things. But if you don't choose positively only negative things will come out of it. An example for this quote is if you think you will do good on the test you will do good but if you think you will do bad you will most likely do bad.
