Optical Laboratory Technician
Optical laboratory technicians grind and fit eyeglasses
lenses into frames according to prescriptions. Technicians set grinding machine
so that lens blanks are ground and polished. They then fit polished lenses into
eyeglasses frames. Some optical technicians work in laboratories. Many also
work in retail stores.
Average Salary: $15,000 - $20,000
Educational Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin
training. Training programs last between six months and one year. Some retail
store optical departments provide on-the-job training.
Reflection: Yes I would like to be a optical laboratory technician, but only as apart time job not as a full time career.
